Taking the next step
This course continues to bring you into the world of Koine Greek! Your vocabulary, phrases and range of ability to express yourself, in speaking and writing, continue to expand, just as your ability to understand others speaking and written texts does, too. You’re reading lenghthier, more complicated stories. And you’ll reading a growing body of speech taken straight out of the New Testament!
Pre-requisite
Content
This is a Greek course like it was meant to be – interactive, enjoyable, meaningful! You’re learning the language from an expert teacher, along with others who worship the Lord, exploring a whole new world of connections in meaning, found in Koine Greek. And you’re having loads of fun, while you’re at it!
By the course’s end, you will be able to:
respond appropriately to more commands and command others to perform actions
describe additional people, places, animals, objects and actions in your own words – now describing multiple actants, not just individuals (yes, singular is quite different from plural in Greek!)
answer comprehension questions about pictures and mini stories
ask further kinds of questions of others
understand more simplified Bible stories
continue to read direct citations from the New Testament (the words of Jesus and others)
speak Greek in prayer to God
Live classes
You will meet with your teacher in a live conference call, together with other students in your course, twice a week. You do interactive activities, both in the larger group and in pairs or trios, including:
Responding bodily to verbal instructions, all in Koine Greek.
Looking at pictures and describing them.
Following along as mini-stories are told from pictures and, then, learning to tell the stories yourself!
Reading short, adapted biblical texts, retelling important events in the history of God’s work in the world, with actual words of speech taken directly out of the New Testament!
Enriching coursework
Between your live lessons, you will be active throughout the week in a variety of learning activities and exercises, including:
Watching videos that teach you and help you review what you learn, as actors on the screen describe and demonstrate new material
Reading and writing using exercise packets (PDFs) that contain enjoyable and engaging activities to help reinforce what you are learning in the live lessons
Using our online webapp that enables you to review and reinforce vocabulary and phrases that you are learning – through self-directed quizzes, as well as mutliple-choice questions
